Marketing materials

If you are looking to commission marketing materials that are on-brand, targeted, persuasive, accessible and look good then I can help. I’ve produced materials for companies large and small, ranging from simple leaflets to booklet ranges, and from basic webpages to new sites (more on my digital work here), sometimes with supporting media work, distribution plans etc. I work with designers, printers, illustrators and photographers who can all help deliver your vision.

Exhibitions & displays

I’ve worked on numerous exhibitions and displays, mainly for National Museums Liverpool and most recently the text for the revamped aquarium. If your needs are more modest I can write displays, banners and posters, and know designers and printers who can produce them.

E-newsletters

If a digital newsletter is more your thing I’ve experience producing newsletters for both internal and external communications including University of Liverpool, Royal Liverpool University Hospital, and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.

Tourism print

For several glorious summers I was lucky enough to write the tourism brochures for several tourist destinations in North Wales. Lovely jobs! Would love to do more of this work. Read a Rhyl & Prestatyn edition here.

Media work

While it is not the bulk of my work, media work is something I really enjoy and have had success with both local and regional TV and radio coverage. Need a media pack (media release, social media, photos etc)? Let me know.

Newsletters

I love Port Sunlight and writing the village trust’s quarterly newsletter. Read a past edition here. If you need a newsletter, or have one that needs a revamp, give me a shout.

Interviews

I’ve done a fair amount of this type of work now including LSTM’s honorary graduates (read Emma Orefuwa & Sam Kariuki here) and staff, and about 90 student interviews for Edge Hill University alone (including this one). They are a great way to promote courses and institutions, but can be used to good effect in a more commercial setting, eg customer and staff profiles.

Event marketing

The brief was to promote National Museums Liverpool’s schools offer to busy teachers. My solution was a series of key stage-specific highlights brochures with testimonials and in situ photos. They proved popular and, together with supporting webpages and enewsletters, increased school visit bookings.

Fundraising print

This example was produced for St Paul’s Eye Unit, Liverpool. The brief was to produce a piece which was informative, accessible to those with eye problems and allowed people to donate with Gift Aid. Testing with visually-impaired advisors led to this bang-tailed donations envelope.

I have worked with Karen for many years, and she can always be relied upon to create well researched, on brief, bespoke copy that promotes clients’ key priorities in a standout way. Karen’s strategic approach makes her really easy to work with and we have always received really positive feedback from clients, some of whom have gone on to work with Karen on their own projects. I would also add that Karen’s pace of work is such that clients receive an extremely cost effective copywriting service
